Baked Potato Rounds with Cheese

Cheese-topped baked potato rounds make a delicious and adaptable snack or side dish. They have a great crispy outer and soft inner texture, with melted cheese on top for a winning combination.

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium russet potatoes (washed and scrubbed)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for extra flavor)

Method:

  1. Oven Prep: Set the oven’s temperature to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking sheet gently or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the potatoes into rounds that are 1/4 inch thick to start the preparation process. You may choose to keep the skin on for more taste and texture.
  3. Add seasoning to the potatoes:
Toss the potato rounds in a big basin with olive oil, salt, pepper, dried thyme (if using), onion, garlic, and paprika until well covered.
  4. Place in a baking sheet:
Arrange the potato rounds on the baking sheet that has been preheated in a single layer. To guarantee consistent baking, make sure they don’t overlap.
  5. Bake the potatoes for 20 to 25 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy around the edges, in a preheated oven. For uniform crispiness, turn the rounds over halfway through baking.
  6. Add Cheese: Take the baking sheet out of the oven, then equally top the potato rounds with the shredded cheddar and, if desired, Parmesan cheeses. Put it back in the oven and continue to bake for another five to seven minutes, or until the cheese is bubbling and melted.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Take out of the oven, and if you’d like, top with freshly cut parsley. Warm up and serve.
  8. Advice: You may parboil the potato slices for a few minutes before seasoning and baking them for even more crispiness.
Try a variety of cheeses: Try different tastes by experimenting with gouda, mozzarella, or a combination of your favorite cheeses.
  9. Add toppings: Before serving, sprinkle some fried bacon pieces, chopped green onions, or a dollop of sour cream on top for more flavor.
  10. These Baked Potato Rounds with Cheese are a crowd favorite for any gathering or family dinner, and they make a great appetizer or side dish. Have fun!
