- 1 cup of rice that has been cooked
- freshly chopped fresh herbs (parsley, dill, and mint) to the extent of half a cup
- 1 medium-sized onion, chopped very finely
- 2 cloves of garlic, chopped up
- Half a cup of olive oil
- The juice of one lemon
- When desired, season with freshly ground black pepper and salt.
- Choice: chopped nuts or raisins (optional).
Method:
First, get the grape leaves ready by:
- When using jarred leaves, remove the brine by rinsing them under cold water.
- You should blanch fresh leaves in boiling water for a few seconds until they become tender, and then drain them.
2. Prepare the filling by,
- Combine the rice that has been cooked, the onions, the garlic, the fresh herbs, the olive oil, and the lemon juice in a mixing bowl.
- Use pepper and salt to season the food. If desired, you can also add chopped nuts or raisins.
- Combine thoroughly.
3. Put together the dried grape leaves:
- Place a grape leaf with the shiny side down and the stem to your right. Make a cut on the stem.
- A tiny amount of filler should be placed near the stem end, and then the sides should be folded in and the parcel should be rolled up tightly.
- Complete the process with the remaining leaves and filling.
Cook the Grape Leaves that Have Been Stuffed:
- Layer the loaded leaves in a pot so that they are tightly packed together.
- After adding enough water to just cover them, add additional lemon juice and a drizzle of olive oil so that they are saturated.
- Maintain their submersion by placing a plate on top of them. The dish should be cooked for forty to fifty minutes until it reaches a soft consistency.
