Easy Layered Taco Bake

Easy Layered Taco Bake

Components:

Regarding the Filling:

  1. 1 pound of ground turkey or beef
  2. One packet of taco seasoning
  3. One can (15 oz) of rinsed and drained black beans
  4. One cup of canned or frozen corn
  5. one cup salsa
  6. Two cups of shredded cheese (mixed Mexican or cheddar)

Regarding the Layers:

  • Six to eight little corn or flour tortillas
  • Topping options include avocado, jalapeños, sliced tomatoes, green onions, and sour cream.

Guidelines:

  • Oven Prep: Set the oven’s temperature to 350°F, or 175°C.
  • Cook the Meat: Brown the ground beef or turkey in a pan over medium heat. Eliminate extra fat. Add the taco seasoning and proceed as directed on the package, usually with the addition of water. Add the salsa, corn, and black beans and stir. Heat thoroughly.
  • Arrange the Ingredients in Layers: Layer first in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish that has been greased:
  • First layer: Arrange a layer of tortillas, cutting them to fit if needed.
  • Distribute half of the beef mixture onto the tortillas for the second layer.
  • Add one cup of shredded cheese on top of the third layer.
  • Continue layering: add additional tortillas, then cover with the leftover meat mixture and cheese.
  • Bake: For around 25 minutes, bake using a foil-covered pan. After removing the foil, bake the cheese for a further 10 to 15 minutes, or until it is bubbling and beginning to turn brown.
  • Chill and Present: Allow it to settle for a few minutes before to slicing. Garnish with optional ingredients such as avocado, jalapeños, chopped tomatoes, green onions, and sour cream.

Advice:

  • For added taste, feel free to chop some onions or bell peppers and add them to the beef mixture.
  • Instead of using tortillas, you can use tortilla chips for a crunchier texture.
