Regarding the Dough:
- Four cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 packet of quick yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
- ½ cup of sugar, granulated
- One teaspoon of salt
- One cup of warm (about 110°F/43°C) milk
- ¼ cup melted unsalted butter
- Two big eggs
Regarding the Filling:
- ½ cup softened unsalted butter
- One cup of dense brown sugar
- 2-tablespoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup of chopped nuts, if desired
- ½ cup raisins, if desired
For the frosting made with cream cheese:
- 4 ounces of softened cream cheese
- ¼ cup softened unsalted butter
- One cup of sugar powder
- One teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–3 tablespoons milk (to thin)
Guidelines
1. Prepare the Dough:
- Mix two cups flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a big bowl. Blend thoroughly.
- Whisk together the eggs, melted butter, and heated milk in a separate basin. Combine this blend with the dry components.
- Until a soft dough forms, gradually add the remaining flour, ½ cup at a time.
2. Work the Dough:
- Once the dough is smooth and elastic, place it on a surface dusted with flour and knead it for five to seven minutes.
3. Initially Rising:
- After the dough has doubled in size, place it in an oiled bowl, cover it with a fresh towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm location for one to two hours.
4. Get the filling ready.
- Combine the softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl and stir until thoroughly blended.
5. Spread the Dough:
- Punch down the dough and place it onto a floured board after it has risen. Extrude it into a roughly ¼-inch-thick rectangle.
6. Disperse the Filling:
- Leaving a thin border all the way around the edges, evenly distribute the cinnamon filling over the dough. If using, add some raisins and nuts.
7. Cut and Roll:
- Roll the dough into a log tightly, beginning with a single long side. Slice into 12 to 15 equal pieces.
8. The Second Ascent
- Put the rolls in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish that has been buttered. For an additional 30 to 45 minutes, cover and allow to rise.
9. Set the oven to preheat:
- Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
10. Cook:
- Bake the rolls until golden brown, 25 to 30 minutes.
11. Prepare the frosting:
- Beat the cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk together until smooth while the rolls bake.
12. Top with Frost and Serve:
- When the rolls are still warm, apply the cream cheese frosting over them after letting them cool slightly from the oven.
Warm cinnamon rolls straight from the oven are amazing! Enjoy! These are delicious any time of day as a sweet treat or for breakfast.
