Air Fryer Cloud Eggs
For breakfast, try these airy and light eggs, which consist of cooked egg yolk surrounded by scrambled ‘cloud’ egg whites, spring onions, and chives. Put some on toast.
Ingredients:
- 2-4 large eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped herbs, shredded cheese
- 2 tbsp chives, chopped
- 2 spring onions, finely sliced
Directions:
- For around five minutes, preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Sort the yolks and whites of the eggs. Sort the yolks into a separate bowl and the whites into one.
- Add salt, pepper, and any other preferred seasonings, such as grated cheese or chopped herbs, to the egg whites. Gently stir to mix.
- Spoon the seasoned egg whites into mounds on an air fryer tray or On a parchment-lined leaving a well for the yolks in the middle of each mound.
- Gently drop a yolk into every well.
- Once the egg whites are set and the yolks are fried to your preferred doneness, place the tray or basket inside the air fryer and cook for 6 to 8 minutes. Be mindful that the duration of cooking may differ according on the type of air fryer you have.
- When the cloud eggs are done, carefully take them out of the air fryer and serve right away.
Tips:
- Use Fresh Eggs: When creating cloud eggs, fresh eggs with firm whites will maintain their shape better.
- Gently Separate Eggs: You want the yolks to stay intact for the centre of the cloud eggs, so take care not to break them off when separating the egg whites from the yolks.
- Beat Egg Whites Correctly: Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form. Your cloud eggs will become light and fluffy as a result.
- Seasoning: Don’t forget to add salt and pepper to the egg whites, and feel free to add additional herbs or spices for flavour.
- Make a Well for the Yolks: Ensure that the yolks have a well in the middle of each mound of egg whites. This will lessen the likelihood that the yolks will slide off when cooking.
Warm up the Air Fryer: This will help the cloud eggs inflate beautifully and guarantee uniform frying.Keep an eye out: Watch the cloud eggs while they cook because the size of the eggs and the model of your air fryer might affect how long they take to cook.
Serve Right Away: When cloud eggs are still warm and fluffy, the best time to eat them is just out of the air fryer.
