This recipe for KFC chicken cooked in an air fryer is even more delicious than the original! Say farewell to takeaway and welcome this dish that is a copycat version of KFC’s original.
Chicken Ingredients:
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 8 pieces chicken, thighs, breasts, wings, or legs
Seasoning Mix:
- 3 tablespoons paprika
- 1 1/2 tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons celery salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 teaspoons dried mustard powder
- 2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
METHOD:
- Whisk the eggs and buttermilk together in a large bowl to incorporate the two ingredients.
- In a separate bowl, combine the following ingredients: flour, cornflour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, celery salt, pepper, mustard, ginger, thyme, basil, and oregano. Mix well. Use a whisk to mix the ingredients.
- Put your air fryer through a five-minute preheating process at 375 degrees.
- Chicken should be dipped into the buttermilk mixture, and any excess should be allowed to drop off.
- The chicken should then be placed in the flour mixture, and the flour should be pressed onto the chicken to ensure that it adheres evenly. Remove any excess by shaking.
- After spraying the basket with olive oil, insert the chicken inside the basket where it has been sprayed. Prepare your chicken by generously spraying it with cooking spray. Fry in an air fryer for twenty-five to thirty minutes, turning once halfway through and spraying with more cooking spray.
- When it reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit and the outside is golden brown, the chicken is ready to be served.
- Enjoy, plate, and serve the food!
