Air Fryer Okra crispy

Cooked in an air fryer, okra. You should make it a point to get a box of fresh okra the next time you go to the grocery store, especially if you have not previously encountered it. In all honesty, I created it because I was brought up in an Italian household and everyone kept asking me for a recipe for fried okra. I was also given the opportunity to make it. Because my family is from the north, my mother has never prepared okra, and this is the very first time that I have ever bought or prepared okra or fried it. But, to my surprise, it turned out to be a delectable snack for late-night consumption. I created a little quantity of it. Additionally, the air fryer does an excellent job of crisping everything up in a short amount of time.
Present: ten minutes
20 minutes in total

Ingredients

  1. 1/2 cup (about 2 7/8 oz.) fine yellow cornmeal
  2. 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  3. 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  5. 1 teaspoon kosher salt, divided
  6. 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  7. 2 teaspoons water
  8. 8 ounces fresh okra, cut into 1/2-in.-thick rounds
  9. Cooking spray
  10. 1/2 cup bottled white barbecue sauce

METHOD:

  1. In a shallow bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, garlic powder, paprika, and a half teaspoon of salt.
  2. Stir them together until they are evenly distributed. In a separate, shallow dish, combine the egg and water by whisking them together.
  3.  Preheat the air fryer for three minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit or 200 degrees Celsius.
  4. While this is going on, dip half of the okra in the egg mixture. After removing the okra and allowing any excess to drip off, add it to the cornmeal mixture and ensure that it is well coated.
  5. Put the okra that has been coated on a platter. It is necessary to repeat the procedure with the remaining okra.
  6. Cooking spray should be used to lightly coat the air fry basket in step three.
  7. Spread the okra out in a single layer in the basket, and then liberally spray it with cooking spray.
  8. Okra should be cooked for 12 to 14 minutes, flipping it halfway through the cooking time and spraying it with extra cooking spray.
  9. Cooking should be done until it is golden brown and crispy. Step four: Take the okra out of the basket and sprinkle it equally with the remaining half teaspoon of salt. Immediate serving with barbecue sauce is recommended.
