Air Fryer Roasted Makhana
This crunchy, tasty, crispy, and highly addicting snack is made from Roasted Makhana, also known as fox nuts. For a quick and simple snack, they can be air-fried or cooked in the oven.
ingredient’s
- Two cups of fox nuts (phool makhana)
- Divided oil, one tablespoon plus one teaspoon
- Use ¼ to ½ teaspoon salt, or as desired
- one-half to one-half teaspoon powdered cayenne powdered red chilli,
- ⅛ teaspoon powdered turmeric
- ½ teaspoon chaat masala option
Instructions:
- Set your air fryer or oven to 300°F (148°C) (same temperature).
- In a large bowl, add the fox nuts or phool makhana, 1 tablespoon oil, salt, turmeric powder, and cayenne or red chilli powder. Using a spoon, thoroughly stir until completely blended. (Keep the bowl handy for later)
- Place onto a baking sheet and bake until crisp, 13 to 14 minutes. (To cook in an air fryer: put the mixed nuts in the heated basket and cook until crispy, about 4 minutes).
Advice:
- Try sampling one just out of the oven or air fryer. It need to be crisp and not adhere to the teeth. If not, air fry for one minute or bake for two minutes.
- Return the heated nuts to the bowl and mix in the remaining 1 tsp oil and chaat masala, if desired. Chaat masala adheres to the seeds better with the oil.
- Once they are totally cool, serve or keep for a few days in an airtight container.
