CRISPY AIR FRYER COD
Crunchy Air Fryer Enjoying a light, flaky fish with a delectably crispy coating is made possible by cod. This recipe is great for a nutritious midweek supper and is very simple to make. Without deep-frying, the cod has a crunchy, golden-brown texture thanks to the air fryer. This is how to achieve it:
Components
Regarding the Cod:
- Four fish fillets, each weighing around six ounces, thawed if frozen
- One cup of flour for all purposes
- One tsp of paprika
- half a teaspoon of powdered garlic
- Half a teaspoon of powdered onion
- One-half tsp dried thyme
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Regarding the Egg Wash:
- Two big eggs
- One tablespoon of water
- For the Crumbs of Bread:
- 1 cup breadcrumbs from Panko
- 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese, grated
- One teaspoon of optional dried parsley
- half a teaspoon of powdered garlic
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- For preparing food:
- Olive oil or cooking spray
Guidelines
Get the coatings ready:
- Combine the flour, paprika, dried thyme, onion and garlic powders, salt, and black pepper in a shallow plate.
- Whisk the eggs and water to make an egg wash in a different shallow dish.
- Panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, dried parsley (if using), garlic powder, salt, and black pepper should all be combined in a third shallow dish.
Spread the Cod:
- Using paper towels, pat dry the cod fillets.
- Shake off excess flour after dredging each fillet in the seasoned flour.
- Taking care to let any excess egg wash drop off, dip the floured fillets into it.
- Evenly coat the fillets by pressing them into the breadcrumb mixture. To make sure the breadcrumbs stick well, gently press down.
- Warm up the air fryer.
- Set your air fryer’s temperature for three to five minutes at 400°F (200°C).
Cook the cod.
- Apply a little layer of cooking or olive oil spray to the air fryer basket.
- Make sure the breaded fish fillets are not in contact with one another as you arrange them in the basket in a single layer. Depending on how big your air fryer is, you might have to cook in batches.
- Apply a thin layer of cooking spray to the tops of the cod fillets.
- The cod should be air-fried for 10 to 12 minutes at 400°F (200°C), turning it halfway through, until it is crispy and golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
Serve:
- After taking the cod out of the air fryer, give it a few minutes to rest.
- Serve with your preferred side dishes, such as a crisp salad, rice, or steaming veggies.
Success Advice
- Pat the Fish Dry: Patting the cod fillets dry promotes better coating adhesion and a crispier finish.
- Set the Air Fryer to preheat in order to have a uniformly crispy texture.
- Steer clear of Overcrowding: If cooking in a basket isn’t possible, work in batches to prevent uneven cooking and crisping.
- Use Fresh fish: Use freshly caught or well-thawed fish fillets for optimal results.
Changes
- Spicy Cod: To add a little heat, throw in a sprinkle of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes with the flour mixture.
- Lemon Herb Cod: To add flavour, chop some fresh herbs, such as parsley or dill, and mix them with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Parmesan Cod: For a deeper flavour, add more Parmesan cheese to the breadcrumb mixture.
Keeping and Heating
- Storage: Remaining cod can be kept in the fridge for up to two days in an airtight container.
- Reheating: To maintain crispness, reheat in an air fryer for three to five minutes at 350°F (175°C). Stay away from the microwave as it can make the coating mushy.
