Notes on Ingredients
  • Fajita seasoning: I suggest spending some time making a batch of homemade fajita seasoning for the best flavour. The flavours will completely eclipse fajita seasoning from the shop!
  • Chicken breast: You should thinly slice the chicken breast into strips that are ¼ inch thick. This guarantees that the bell peppers and chicken will cook through in a comparable length of time.
  • vegetables: in this dish, bell peppers and red onions are used. Cut them into ¼-inch-thick strips.
  • OIL: Olive oil works well for this dish; avocado oil is also a fantastic option for air fryers.
  • Lime juice: I suggest adding the lime juice right before serving, instead of throwing it in to cook. In order to prevent a major mess in the fryer, we want to use as little liquid as possible in this recipe.

Recipe Card

Ingredients:

  1. One pound of chicken breasts cut into ¼-inch-thick strips
  2. two bell peppers cut into strips, and one red onion cut into strips
  3. One tablespoon olive oil
  4. one tablespoon sugar
  5. one-fourth teaspoon salt
  6. one tablespoon chilli powder
  7. one-half teaspoon cumin
  8. one-half teaspoon paprika
  9. one-fourth teaspoon garlic powder
  10. one-seventh teaspoon onion powder
  11. optionally, one-fourth teaspoon cayenne

To Serve:

avocado

sour cream

cilantro

lime juice

tortillas

Directions:

  1. Heat up the air fryer to 200°C or 400°F.
  2. Combine ingredients: Using a big bowl, thoroughly mix the chicken, onion, bell peppers, and olive oil until everything is coated.
  3. Add the sugar, salt, cayenne, chilli powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika powder. Stir until the chicken and veggies have a uniform seasoning.
  4. In the air fryer, arrange:
  5. Spread them out equally on the tray or trays, making sure they are in a single layer, oven-style. If ingredients come into contact, that’s fine, but you don’t want different layers.
  6. Work in bunches if you’re working basket-style. Fill the basket with one layer.
  7. Cooking- Cook for 5 minutes, then use tongs to flip and separate the chicken. If using an air fryer with trays, rotate the trays. Cook for another 3-5 minutes.

When chicken is cooked through and bell peppers are slightly softened, remove and serve with suggested toppings.

Tips:

  •  You may substitute chicken thighs for this, but you might need to extend the cooking time. This amounts to about two large chicken breasts.
  •  Tortillas and serving suggestions are not included in the nutritional information Storage

Storage:

Portion into a meal prep container once fully cooled. Keep chilled for up to four days.

Reheating:

Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees. Place the fajita filling into the basket or on trays, and heat for five minutes, or until thoroughly heated.
