Hawker Style Air Fryer BBQ Chicken Wings

Here’s how to prepare BBQ Wings, which are chicken wings served hawker-style with a recipe for chilli dip. Ever! These Asian wings are the finest!

Naturally, the most traditional kind of chicken part to use is chicken wings. With no problems, I’ve even marinated other bird pieces. To make sure the chicken pieces are well cooked, just turn the oven temperature up.

Use several paper towels to wipe the chicken wings before covering them with marinade. This will help the marinade “stick” to the chicken pieces and more easily infuse them with flavour by removing any extra moisture from the skin of the chicken.

Ingredients:

  1. One kilo gramme of chicken wings split into two halves
  2. ABC Sweet Soy Sauce Kecap Manis 2 tablespoons
  3. 60g of shallots
  4. 20g of ginger
  5. four garlic cloves
  6. Two tablespoons of sesame oil
  7. One teaspoon of cooking oil
  8. One tsp of dark soy sauce
  9. 2 tablespoons light soy sauce
  10. ¼ tsp chilli powder
  11. 1 tablespoon honey
  12. One-half teaspoon white pepper
  13. one-half teaspoon salt

 

Directions:

  1. Wash and clean chicken wings. Pat dry, then cut to separate drumettes from wingettes.
  2. Mix all the other ingredients together to make the marinade. Marinate chicken wings overnight (or a few hours) in the refrigerator.

To Cook

  1. Brush or spray air fryer basket with oil before placing chicken wings in. Tip: Pour some hot water into the base of the air fryer bowl to help keep the chicken moist while cooking.
  2. Air fry chicken wings at 180°C for 10-12 mins. Brush with more marinade sauce midway.
